ABOUT EMPOWERING CONSTRUCTION

Twin Cities Construction & Remodeling

Built on passion. Powered by people.

Empowering Construction was born out of a love for building and a desire to do things differently in an industry that often leaves homeowners feeling powerless in their own spaces.

We’re not just a remodeling and construction company. We’re a women-owned team creating thoughtful, high-quality spaces and a more human experience along the way.

April Felt (she/her)

General Contractor & Project Manager

After 21 years as a high school math teacher and track coach, I took a leap and followed a lifelong passion: construction. I’d spent years during my summers and weekends off of teaching building decks, fences, and outdoor structures, but in 2022, I officially launched Empowering Construction.

I named the company Empowering Construction because I wanted to rewrite the story people tell about working with contractors. Too many folks feel like their remodel is happening to them—not with them. They’re left out of the loop, unhappy with the result, and unsure how to fix it. I wanted to change that.

We work side-by-side with our clients to create something that feels like them, but also functional and beautiful. Whether it inspires you to take on more projects in your home or simply feel prouder of the space you’ve created, we want you to walk away more confident and empowered than when you started.

And yes, we do exceptional work. But we also show up fully. Because we know how personal it is to invite someone into your home. That trust means everything to us.

Susannah Ingerson (she/her)

Project Manager & Design Lead

Before joining Empowering Construction, I spent years rehabbing homes in the Twin Cities with my wife—doing much of the work ourselves and falling deeply in love with the process. My background includes project management, a keen eye for design, and several years as a licensed real estate agent, managing listings on a high-performing team.

In early 2024, I officially joined April as a partner in Empowering Construction. After watching the business grow rapidly in its first two years, it was clear she couldn’t—and shouldn’t—do it all alone. When she asked (okay, begged) me to come on board, I knew our skills were the perfect match. The rest is history.

What we’re building here goes beyond homes. We’re creating an experience where homeowners, vendors, subcontractors, and team members all feel respected, included, and inspired. We believe in raising the standard, not just for the end result, but for how we get there.

Our Why

We’re here to bring visibility, compassion, and trust into an industry that hasn’t always made space for those things. We also bring much-needed representation to a space that hasn’t always made room for it. We empower our clients by listening deeply, communicating clearly, and working collaboratively through each step of the process. We want you to feel confident in your choices, proud of your home, and fully seen along the way.

Because construction shouldn’t be intimidating.
It should feel empowering.

“April and Susannah are a great team and take the time to do things right. They do not disappoint.”

“We chose Empowering Construction for our bathroom construction after our good friends and neighbors had them do their bathrooms. We saw what a wonderful job they did so when we were looking to finally finish a bathroom and remodel two others we knew April and Susannah of Empowering Construction were our first choice.

We worked closely with them to make all of our design choices and could not be happier with the results. Our new finished bathroom is the best room in the house and the other two got a wonderful facelift to make them look new again.

April and Susannah are a great team and take the time to do things right. They do not disappoint. We would highly recommend Empowering construction to our friends and family.”
